Dr. Gerald Tadej had an early dream to become an orthodontist after receiving orthodontic care when he was a teenager. His orthodontist at the time was a young doctor who made a real connection with his teenage patient and sparked an intense interest for the future Dr. Tadej. While the scientific aspect was fascinating, it was the combination of the science and the life-changing impact for patients that was the absolute inspiration for the rigorous pursuit of his dream.
Dr. Tadej attended Walla Walla College in Washington for his undergraduate studies. His dental studies moved him to California, where he attended Loma Linda University Dental School and earned his Doctorate of Dental Surgery Degree (DDS) in 1983. After one year of practicing general dentistry, he began an additional two years in an advanced program at Loma Linda University Dental School to become a specialist in orthodontics. In 1986 he earned his Master’s Degree (MS) in Orthodontics, becoming Gerald P. Tadej, D.D.S., M.S. and began to practice as an orthodontist.
Dr. Tadej completed a Master’s thesis on Temporo-Mandibular Joint (TMJ) anatomy and function which was published in a prestigious orthodontic journal, The Angle Orthodontist. In his quest for learning and perfecting his orthodontic skills, Dr. Tadej completed a two-year fellowship with the Roth Williams Center for Functional Occlusion. To stay up to date on the latest improvements in orthodontics, each year he attends the international study groups as well as many other courses in orthodontics and practice management to be able to provide his patients with the best care possible. Dr. Tadej has also been designated an Invisalign Elite Preferred Provider by Align Technology, the makers of Invisalign. This designation is based on both his experience treating patients with Invisalign and continuing education with the Invisalign System.
Dr. Tadej has been married to his wife, Cindi, since 1989. Their three children have all enjoyed some time in the office - wearing braces, working summers in the office lab and helping with special projects. In his spare time, Dr. Tadej enjoys golf in the California sunshine. “I love Bakersfield. I grew up in rainy Seattle, Washington, and my dream was to live where it's warm and the sun always shines. Being able to practice in a profession I love, in a place I love are two dreams come true.”
